KNU's Mergui-Tavoy District Information Department is an information service under the structure of KNU's Department of Organization. The Information Department is working for information to give the grassroots awareness in domestic and international community. The KNU's Mergui-Tavoy District Information Department had reported some reports about human rights abuses against the civilians' livelihood and security by the development programs in Tenasserim division and the construction of Yadana gas pipeline. It has been recorded human rights abuses committed by the Burma army in the division and sent to interesting groups or persons and persons or groups of concern.

KNU's Mergui-Tavoy District Information Department try to improve the quality of human rights reports to have broader international community awareness so they can give pressure to the ruling military junta to stop their systematic human rights abuses against the people in Burma.

Mergui-Tavoy District Information Department has no intention to use the information as propaganda material. It always intending to report human rights abuses and other real events in the remote areas of Tenasserim division where the correspondents from abroad and inside Burma unable to access or restricted to access, and the information were hidden or black out by military junta's authorities.

To maintain and improve the quality of news and information about the events which occurred in our related region, we occasionally went to the field and help filled up the skill to those who have interesting in information collecting in various societies and areas.

For confirmation of our information we study various information from various sources (e.g. from our informers, KNU administration message, KNLA messages, and source from civilian) as available.

We are serious on not to provide unconfirmed or wrong information to instigate our reader's feeling and to cheat them.

The objective of Mergui-Tavoy District Information Department is to provide the actual information which are not available from the ruling junta's news and information apparatuses and let the readers understand the whole picture of the country (Burma) the suffering of the country civilians and ethnic people's daily lives and land the helping hands to the movement for peace, the people in Burma are longing for heartily.
