Children Go Treat-or-Treating on Halloween Night Oct 30 , 2009
	About 18 children participated in the trick-or-treat trip which went around the south west Bakersfield in search of ghosts, goblins, witches, and most importantly, candy!   They started out just before dark and were done by around 8:00 pm with full bags of candy.   The children had a great time.. 	The Karen Baptist Fellowship held our annual potluck picnic at the River Walk Park on Saturday with many families bringing their best dishes to share with others.  Some of the memorable foods were, Nan Gyi Tote, pork curry, tofu thote, pork ear salad, etc., simply too many delicious dishes to name.   There were all types of activities for children and adults to enjoy, including three-foot races, tug of war, balloon toss, etc..   The picnic was blessed with perfect weather and everyone had a great time. 	Community Picnic at Lake Buena Vista Aug 14, 2009
	Karen community members got together for an impromptu picnic at Lake Buena Vista, one of several lakes surrounding Bakersfield, on Aug 14th.  It was a potluck event allowing people to enjoy a cool Friday afternoon by the lakeside.   The children especially enjoyed a chance to swim in the shallows of the lake, hoping waves made by the passing boats.   SLIDE SHOW
